Science, Culture, and the Natural World
True resilience requires more than technology; it requires a rooted identity. Our community operates at the intersection of a unique triple helix: the deep-tech scientific analytics of the Advanced Environmental Analytics Laboratory (AEAL), the rich Hausa-Fulani heritage of the Makuba Center, and the living botanical museum of Horiya Gardens. Built in direct partnership with the Bayero University Kano (BUK) Center for Dryland Agriculture and the Kano Institute of Horticulture, this climate-resilient canvas preserves economic trees and plants of profound African traditional significance—from historical and community naming flora to ancient medicinal species. Together, they form a living ecosystem where modern innovation and historical legacy thrive as one.
